Motherboard: System Wars

A real-time strategy game fought inside a computer. Antivirus against virus.

What this is

Motherboard: System Wars is a real-time strategy game that happens inside a computer. Discover and take control of new nodes, develop them into bases, deploy virtual defenders, and fight to protect the network against something that is already eating it.

Both sides play, and they do not play alike. The antivirus builds, repairs and holds ground. The virus is cheap, fast and everywhere, and it drags corruption across the board behind it. Both are available in Skirmish mode; as friend, or foe.

It is a strategy game in the shape of the ones from the 1990s, designed from the jump for a phone held in landscape with two thumbs. A match runs about as long as a bus ride. Jump back in whenever you like.

How it plays

Two sides, and they play differently
The antivirus builds, repairs and holds ground. The virus is cheap, fast and everywhere. Both are available in Skirmish mode.
The board is the resource
Neutral nodes are what you grow onto, and bonus captures pay income on top. Taking them and holding them is most of what a match is arguing about.
A match is about a bus ride long
Five to twelve minutes, start to finish, which is what a real-time strategy game has to be to survive on a phone.
Made for landscape and two thumbs
Designed from the jump for a phone, not squeezed down from a desktop. The controls were drawn for the way a phone is actually held.
