Privacy Policy
The short version: this site collects nothing about you. The only personal data we ever hold is an email address, and only if you type one into the sign-up form yourself.
Who we are
Swift Orbit Studios LLC runs this website and decides what happens to the small amount of data described here. In data protection language, that makes us the data controller.

What this page covers
This website, swiftorbitstudios.com, and the email list we run from it.

The sign-up, which is the only thing here that collects anything
If you type your address into the sign-up form, it goes to Buttondown. Buttondown runs our email list and stores it for us, which makes them our processor: they hold the data and we decide what happens to it. Their own privacy policy is at https://buttondown.com/legal/privacy.
Buttondown holds two things. Your email address, and the record of your subscription, which is when you signed up, whether you confirmed it, and whether you have since left.
You then get an email asking you to confirm. Nothing starts until you click the link in it.
What arrives if you confirm
Patch notes, roadmap teasers and development news. Occasionally, not weekly. Leave any time.
The link to leave is at the bottom of every email we send.
How long we keep your email address
If you sign up and never click the confirmation link, your address is removed after 30 days. We send one reminder a day after you sign up, and nothing else.
If you do confirm, we keep your address until you unsubscribe. There is no second period, because sending you those emails is the only thing we use it for. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except Buttondown, who stores the list for us.
Unsubscribing is a link at the bottom of every email we send. It takes effect immediately, and your address is removed 7 days later.
Those two periods are Buttondown's defaults rather than numbers we set. We re-check them, and if they change we change this page.
If you would rather it went sooner, or you want it removed without unsubscribing first, write to [email protected] and we will ask Buttondown to delete it.
Where your address is held
We are in the United States and so is Buttondown. If you sign up, that is where your address is stored.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Consent, and nothing else. You give it by typing your address in and then clicking the link in the confirmation email. You can take it back at any time, and taking it back is the unsubscribe link.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. There is no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
Nothing here stores anything in your browser and nothing here follows you to another site.
If that ever changes, this page changes first and a banner comes with it.
How we count visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people come to the site and which pages they read. It is served from the same address as the site, it sets no cookie, and it does not identify you. We get page counts, referrers and a list of popular pages, and nothing that points at a person.
What our host sees
Loading a web page means your browser asks a server for it, and the server sees where the request came from, including your IP address. Our host is Cloudflare. That is how the web works and we cannot switch it off. We do not take a copy of it and we do not use it to work out who you are.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it. You can object to us holding it at all, which in practice is the same as asking us to remove it.
Write to [email protected]. We reply within 30 days and it is usually much sooner, because the list is small and we read that address ourselves.
If you are in the UK or the EU, you can also complain to your national data protection authority.
If you are in California, those same requests are the ones the law there gives you. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly hold a child's email address. If you think we have one, write to [email protected] and we will remove it.
When this page changes
We change this page when what we do changes, and we change it before the new thing starts rather than after. This page last changed on .
